Tips for Painless Billing
Throughout your care with MBSP, you may receive separate invoices for facility services and physician services. To make things easier on yourself, you may want to:
- Create a master list of estimated costs for your medical treatment in categories such as:
- outpatient visits,
- inpatient hospital stays,
- surgery,
- lab work,
- etc.
- As the invoices arrive, keep them in a folder and refer to your master list to see which statements are outstanding.
Please don’t hesitate to ask MBSP for help to navigate the expected charges.

Types of bills that MBSP invoices:
Physician’s Bill
Physician fees are for time spent with our staff during your visits. Some physicians and physician groups may send you separate invoices that include the cost of medical or surgical care as well as costs involving review and interpretation of your diagnostic tests. For example, you might receive a charge from the radiologist who reads your X-ray. In addition, patients may also receive invoices from hospital-based physicians like anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, pathologists, as well as from private community physicians.
Facility Bill
Patients seen in one of our clinics (with no overnight stays) are considered outpatients and may receive separate invoices for some services. Your clinic or outpatient notice will include charges for the use of the facility and any tests or procedures done at the time of your appointment. For scheduling reasons, some tests or procedures may be performed at a later date and will be allocated separately from your outpatient or clinic invoice.
Patients admitted to the hospital (inpatients) will receive separate invoices for some services. Your hospital fee will include charges for your room, food, medical supplies and services, and any tests or procedures that you undergo, such as X-rays.
