At MBSP we assist patients through the process of certificate approval with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission. Applicants must enroll with the Maryland OneStop Portal (onestop.md.gov) to obtain a unique registration number prior to scheduling an appointment. The process takes only a few minutes and requires an upload of a government issued identification card, a clear picture of oneself on a white background and answering some basic questions. A fee of $25 is required at time of enrollment which is non-refundable. After receiving one’s registration number the applicant may move forward with scheduling a 15-30 minute consultation with a licensed medical marijuana provider. It is required that all applicants provide supporting documentation for review to determine if their ailment(s) qualify for approval. Once a patient has been deemed an appropriate candidate a written certificate will be provided so they may purchase at their local dispensary. Current qualifying conditions for medicinal cannabis are:
- cachexia
- anorexia
- wasting syndrome
- severe or chronic pain
- severe nausea
- seizures
- severe or persistent muscle spasms
- glaucoma
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- another chronic medical condition which is severe and for which other treatments have been ineffective.
